Film Verses Digital – What’s the Difference Anyway?

Film Twilight New Moon Uncensored Video. In the old days, if your camera (35mm of course) had a battery die on you in the middle of an important shoot, you still had options. I mean after all; the only thing you needed the battery for was the light meter, it’s not like your whole camera will shut down if you have no battery. Oh, I’m sorry . . . if you are using all digital that might have stung just a little bit.

The point was if your battery died, you still had a way to get a good picture. If you were using 100 speed film you could set your shutter speed to whatever the flash sync speed was (usually 1/60th or 1/125th of a second), set your f-stop to f-16, and bracket every shot. Besides the obvious dependency on batteries, there are other differences between film and digital cameras.

If you have ever shopped for a digital camera you have no doubt heard the phrase: “35mm equivalent”. This means that the optics are not exactly the same in a digital camera. Since the 35mm SLR camera has been the standard for so long, that’s what newer cameras are compared to. The difference between the two is a ratio of 1:1.4. Simply put, a 35-200 zoom on a digital camera would be like having a 49-280 zoom lens on a traditional 35mm camera.

The main reason the optics are different is because the sensor (the device that actually reads the light) is also a different size. Film cameras use film (sensitive to light) that is placed directly behind the lens. When the correct exposure is calculated, that image is literately burned into the film. Digital cameras use a sensor; that also sits behind the lens. This sensor is made up of millions of individual points that each represents 1 pixel. Once the sensor has gathered the information for each pixel it transfers that data to a digital media card (which can be used repeatedly.)

The sensor is the physical device that gathers information about the quality of light coming into the camera. The process of “how” the sensor goes about gathering information is referred to as “metering”. The human eye can distinguish a range of about 16 different f-stops; camera meters only have a range of about 5 f-stops. This is why camera meters are calibrated for a “mid range” exposure of 18% gray, because 90% of the time that is as close as they can get to the human eye. It’s not the camera’s fault that it can not see as well as you do, it’s simply a fact of life.

There are basically only three types of metering systems.

A) Spot Metering

B) Center-Weighted Metering

C) Matrix Metering

Spot metering as the name indicates only reads a small spot or portion of the overall image (usually 1% to 3%). This type of metering is useful in any situation where the lighting is extreme. Backlit subjects, macro shots, or even pictures of the moon can benefit from this type of metering. This type of metering is usually found on the more costly upper end cameras.

Center-Weighted metering averages the overall scene with an emphasis on the center area of the frame. Usually this type of meter bases its reading with 75% of the light hitting center frame and 25% for everything else. It assumes that the subject is dead center, most of the time. It is worth noting that most center weighted systems have a greater sensitivity in the bottom half of the frame; to avoid an overly contrasting sky from throwing off the readings. This type of system is the most common used in both digital and traditional cameras today.

Matrix Metering splits your image up into anywhere from 3 to 16 metering zones and evaluates the different zones to come up with one over all reading. In this process of evaluation it takes into account factors like: subject size, position, distance, point of focus, over all lighting, color and more. This system uses a microchip which has been exposed to thousands of different picture-taking situations. Currently this is the most complex and the most accurate metering system to date. This system is usually found on the higher end Digital SLR’s.

I used the word “digital” several times, but these are the same types of metering systems used in traditional film cameras as well. The only other way of reading light has to do with “reflected light” verses “surface light”. Most meters in the camera are reading reflected light (light reflected off the main subject that goes back toward the camera.) Every so often you might see someone with a hand held light meter that will go right up to the subject and read the light that falls on the surface of that subject. Some photographers still debate which way is more accurate. In my opinion; “Spot Metering” does basically the same thing.

All photographers have their favorites; Canon, Nikon, Kodak. Some choose digital, some choose film. The thing to remember is what we actually need to get a great photo. Things like composition, leading lines, framing, and the rule of thirds are much more important to our success as great photographers than the physical tools we use. On the other hand, knowing what your camera can or can not do, let’s you know if you have the right tool for the job.

Inilah kepercayaan dasar yang harus dipegang teguh meskipun banyak ramalan tentang hari kiamat termasuk dalam film 2012 ini. Unsur edukatif lainnya adalah meskipun visualisasi bencana dalam film 2012 ini begitu dahsyat, namun harus ada keyakinan bahwa pada saat kiamat yang sesungguhnya nanti tiba maka kedahsyatannya tentu jauh lebih hebat daripada apa yang ada dalam film ini. Kreativitas manunia pasti tidak akan bisa menggambarkan kekuasaan Tuhan secara tepat. Harus ada kedewasaan publik untuk menyikapi sebuah film kontroversial secara arif.

Kedewasaan publik

Dalam dunia yang plural, munculnya karya film kontroversial sepertinya sudah menjadi sesuatu yang sulit untuk dinihilkan. Ketika realitas budaya sudah semakin plural serta pertemuan antarpaham pemikiran dan pendukungnya semakin intens, maka keragaman dan kreativitas yang kontroversial sulit dihindari. Karena itu, publik dunia mau tidak mau harus siap menghadapi realitas munculnya karya dan kreativitas seperti itu. Masalahnya adalah bagaimana sebaiknya publik menyikapi hal itu.

Meskipun persoalan film kontroversial selalu mengundang pro-kontra bahkan resistensi yang tinggi, namun kemunculannya seakan sudah menjadi siklus tersendiri. Setiap waktu akan muncul film kontroversial baru yang sangat mungkin lebih heboh daripada film sebelumnya. Sejarah perfilman bahkan menunjukkan bahwa kontroversi merupakan iklan gratis yang sangat efektif. Semakin kontroversial sebuah film, maka akan semakin besar peluangnya untuk menjadi film laris dan melegenda. Peluang inilah yang sedang dicoba produser film 2012 ini. Buktinya adalah sejak film ini diputar serempak di 105 negara, maka langsung meraup keuntungan besar di seluruh dunia.

Karena itu, film 2012 ini seharusnya bisa menjadi pembelajaran kedewasaan publik dalam kerja sama untuk menyikapi film kontroversial. Jangan terlalu mudah dan cepat mengaitkan sebuah film yang kontroversial dengan urusan agama dan persoalan keimanan publik. Apalagi menariknya menjadi sebuah bahan bakar untuk menyulut sentimen keagamaan tertentu.

Namun demikian, memang juga harus ada kedewasaan publik untuk tetap membentengi dogmadogma kepercayaan yang sudah diimani, tanpa harus memberangus kreativitas insan perfilman dan pencarian materi. Pembentengan dogma-dogma kepercayaan memang harus dilakukan karena tingkat kedewasaan publik sangat beragam dan banyak yang kurang dewasa. Karena itu diperlukan berbagai aksi penyadaran dan pemahaman yang intensif supaya lebih dewasa.

If we just look at the parallel world, Europe, in this same time frame, we may be given some indicator as to why God was working so hard to make the Church strong in Peru. The year of Rose's birth was 1586. What was happening in Europe in 1586?

The heresies of Martin Luther had wreaked havoc on the Church of Europe from the beginning of the century. But the movement faltered, even under the rule of Calvin, who was much more violent than Martin Luther. It was in great danger of collapsing, until Henry VIII of England started his own church in an effort to legitimize his lustful and adulterous behavior. He wanted to marry many women and couldn't get the Pope to annul his previous marriages. Henry decided to throw out the Catholic Church and start a new church, with him as the head. This from a man who had been given the title of Defender of the Faith by the Pope for his defense of the Faith against Martin Luther.

Henry VIII's daughters played a game of one upmanship on him, treating those who would not come over to the Church of England worse than Henry did. By 1570, Elizabeth I, his daughter from Ann Boleyn, declared her Act of Supremacy,1 and in 1585, it became illegal to be a priest in England under pain of treason. Priests and religious became non-persons. This was Elizabeth's way of getting back at Pope Pius V, who excommunicated her as a heretic in 1570.

In 1588, a rumor was started that the Pope and the King of Spain were planning an invasion on England and Ireland. All priests who were in captivity or who were able to be rounded up, were taken to Canterbury and executed. Most were hanged, then drawn and quartered.2 They were called the Martyrs of Canterbury.

During the time Elizabeth and her cronies were enjoying killing their own countrymen, she decided it was time to subject the Irish to her particular type of terror. Thus began the Penal times for the Irish, the age of the persecution. Thousands of Irish people, faithful to the Church, were slaughtered or starved to death in an effort to bring Ireland under English Rule and the Church of England. It never happened. This was followed by Oliver Cromwell, who subjected the Irish to inhuman terror.

In France, the Huguenots3 began Wars of Religion, in which they looted and destroyed churches, kidnapped and murdered priests and nuns, dug up bodies of Saints and profaned them, all to put down Catholicism in France.

So if you wonder why Our Lady came to Guadalupe in 1531, and Our Lord Jesus gave us Martin de Porres, Rose of Lima, and Toribio de Mongrevo in Lima Peru at the end of the Sixteenth century, the answer may be all too clear.

A Rose from Heaven

In the midst of so much political activity in Lima, little Rose was born on April 20, 1586 to Oliva and Gaspar Flores. From the very beginning of her life she exhibited a great deal of mysticism. She was the only child of Gaspar and Oliva's eleven children who did not cause her mother any labor pains. All the children before, and those subsequent to Rose, caused her a great deal of pain in child-bearing. Rose, on the other hand, caused her mother a great deal of pain after she was born.

She was the recipient of God's graces from an early age. Barely able to walk, she would be found lost in contemplation before the big crucifix in her mother's room. At three years old, she endured surgery from an accident without crying at all. A heavy lid from a flour jar fell on her finger, causing a blood clot and great pain. The surgeon had to cut back her fingernail, and apply acid to the finger. All of this was done without anesthetic. The acid had to stay on the finger for several days. When she was complimented on her behavior, Rose commented on how much more Jesus had suffered.

Later, she was stricken with an excruciating earache. When asked if it hurt badly she stated, "Yes, but Our Lord's Crown of Thorns must have hurt much more."

During Rose's recuperation period from the blood clot, her mother tried teaching her how to read, using secular material. It was impossible. The girl could not read anything. Oliva gave up in despair. She threw the book across the room and told little Rose to get out of her sight. Then her grandmother began to teach Rose from her prayer book. Sometime later, little Rose came out of her room with the prayer book, having read several pages from it. When Oliva asked her daughter who taught her to read and write, she replied, "I asked the Baby Jesus to teach me, Mama, to save you the work and He did." Rather than being elated that her daughter could read and write, Oliva punished Rose for what she considered defiance. Rose took her punishment without a word of complaint.

In an effort to establish a truce with her own mother, Oliva allowed Rose's grandmother, Isabel, to bring Rose to confession to whatever church she desired. When Rose became five years old, Isabel brought her to the Jesuit church. Rose immediately asked her new confessor if she could make a vow of Chastity. The priest was somewhat surprised, especially in view of the fact that she was only five years old, but after prayer and counsel with superiors, he allowed her to make the vow. It would be a problem for Rose in later years, when her mother wanted her to marry, but at this time, it seemed harmless to the priest, and to our little Saint, it was an important gift to give Our Lord Jesus.

Shark Bitten at Sunningdale without Golf Psychology and Self Hypnosis

Tiger Woods Golf Swing. So who made it to Sunningdale to watch the Senior Open Championship last weekend? I know that one of the latest subscribers to my newsletter did and he tells me that he and his wife really enjoyed it? For me it was well worth the visit, especially as it's only 10 miles down the road from me the Old Course at Sunningdale is one of my favourite courses in the world - not that the New Course isn't just as good.

Tiger Woods. There's absolutely no doubt that this weekend and so many times before in majors Greg Norman, also known as "The Great White Shark", has struck the ball brilliantly and enjoyed a great short game, it just seems that he's missed out on the mental side of the game, especially in the closing holes. As far as I can recall, Greg has never worked with a golf psychologist and sadly it shows at times like these. If he had Tiger's training and could use golf psychology and self hypnosis at these critical times, just imagine how many majors he would have won by now.

Coming back to the venue, Sir Michael Bonallack, one of the UK's and possibly the world's finest amateur golfers of all time and secretary of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews for 15 years, describes Sunningdale very aptly on the welcome page of the club's website:

"All that one would hope to find in the ideal golf club is in abundance at Sunningdale. Two magnificently conditioned courses of superb design and so pleasing to the eye, a clubhouse which provides members and visitors with an unforgettable experience of pampered comfort, accompanied by exceptional food and wine, a staff that anticipates and provides for the members’ wishes, no matter how eccentric they may be, a first class professional’s shop and competent instruction on hand, the most knowledgeable caddies in the game and the finest halfway house I know."

My first memory of playing at Sunningdale was in the early 1970s when I played in an event there run by The Plus Four Society an elite group of golfers sponsored by the Surrey Golf Union with membership restricted to handicaps of 4 and less under the old handicapping system. Thankfully, I can't remember much about my rounds that day, but I do remember one of my fellow golfers playing both courses of the championship tees in 68 for a total of 136. It must have really felt like he was being cheated when his plus 2 handicap was added back to his score and he ended up with a net 140 for the handicap event. It certainly seemed so unfair to me, as someone playing off 2 handicap and desperately needing both my shots! Unlike today, there were very few players of plus 2 in those days. I was intrigued to see that same man playing in the Senior Open Championship there last week and still as an amateur.

I really enjoyed watching so many of my golfing heroes out there playing just as well as I remembered back in their heydays. People in their 50s and 60s playing that standard of golf is an inspiration to people like me of a similar age and, like last week at the Open, it reminded me that I really can't use my age as an excuse for playing less golf.

I found it difficult to choose who to follow and who I really wanted to win and it came down to a choice of Greg Norman and Tom Watson. They are both players I admire and both have played remarkable golf in major championships in the last two years. I felt sorry that Tom again missed out after coming so close at the Open. However the person I really wanted to win was Greg Norman. Although Greg has won the Open twice before, I hadn't realised how many times he had slipped up in the last round of majors. I remember of course his pushed long iron on the final hole of the Masters in 1986 when a par would have got him into the playoff and his turning a six shot lead in the last round there ten year's later into a 5 shot defeat by Nick Faldo.

When I checked the records, it turned out that Greg had just had those two Open victories out of 23 majors where he finished in the top 6. In addition he came second in 8 of those majors and third in 4 more. So he clearly has a problem finishing off his rounds.

So what happened last weekend, well Greg was striking the ball awesomely well and his shots were going long and straight. Despite dropping a few shots, that you'd expect from a man who plays so little competitive golf, his short game was just amazing. He was probably playing as well as he did in all those top 6 finishes in majors. But when he got to the 16th on Sunday, needing one more birdie to tie the lead or two to win outright, he pushed his drive way right just like he had hit that long-iron back at the Masters in 1986. He made a miraculous recovery from deep in the trees and hit his third fairly close to the pin, he was out of it and three putted. He was still hitting the ball well on 17 and 18, but he was a defeated man.

Here's wishing Greg Norman and all my other golfing heroes every success at the US Seniors Open this coming weekend.

Keputihan yang sering menggangu kita, sebaiknta segera diobati dengan obat yang sesuai untuk mengobati penyakit keputihan tersebut.Keputihan adalah semacam silim yang keluar terlalu banyak, warnanya putih seperti sagu kental dan agak kekuning-kuningan. Jika slim atau lendir ini tidak terlalu banyak, tidak menjadi persoalan.

Tapi pada umumnya wanita yang menderita keputihan mengeluarkan lendir tersebut terlalu banyak dan menimbulkan bau yang tidak enak. Ini disebabkan karena terjadinya peradangan dan infeksi pada liang vagina.

Jika keputihan sudah berlarut-larut dan menjadi berat, maka kemungkinan wanita yang bersangkutan akan menjadi mandul dan tidak bisa mempunyai keturunan (anak).

Sesungguhnya keputihan dapat disembuhkan dengan mempergunakan ramuan secara tradisional.

Ambillah 10 lembar daun beluntas.

Sepotong kayu rapet kira-kira sepanjan 5-6 cm. Kayu rapet bisa dipilih sejenis pulasari.

Satu batang temu kunci.

Kunir sepotong ujung kelingking.

Sepotong temulawak sebesar jari kelingking.

Semua bahan-bahan ramuan tersebut dirajang. Seperti temu kunci dan temu lawak diiris tipis-tipis, begitu juga kunir. Diiris menjadi beberapa potong tipis. Bersama-sama dengan daun beluntas, masukkan kedalam panci yang telah diisi dengan 2 mangkok air bersih, direbus sampai mendidih dan tunggu setelah air menyusut menjadi 1/3 mangkok, angkatlah. Ambillah air godokan tersebut dan hangat-hangat diminum.

Minumlah ramuan tersebut secara teratur selama 10 hari. Keputihan tersebut akan sembuh dan lenyap.

"Kita tidak boleh menghakimi sebuah karya seni. Masyaraktlah yang harus pintar menilai sisi baik dan buruknya. Toh bukan hal yang mustahil usai nonton film tersebut justru mampu menyadarkan kita," sambung bintang film Rantai Bumi ini.

Soal ramalan Bangsa Maya, Ki Kusumo menilai sama saja dengan ramalan manusia saat ini yang sangat mungkin bisa salah.

"Bangsa Maya sama halnya kita sebagai manusia yang memiliki keterbatasan. Kalau bicara ramalan, saya justru lebih percaya ramalan Joyoboyo," sambung Ki Kusumo. [fei/aji/mor]
